Today, we’re launching a new element to the Brand+Aid blog; the Brand+Aid Point of View, or POV for short. Think of it like a Brand+Aid team member takeover. Each month, we’re letting a different member of the Brand+Aid team share their life hacks, philosophies, general thoughts, and interests. We hope this allows you to get to know our Brand+Aid team in a closer and more personal way.
This week we’re featuring Katie our Marketing Specialist and social media aficionado. Katie comes to us from a communications and marketing background in publicity and nonprofit.
KATIE’S TIP FOR PRODUCTIVITY
Hi everyone, Katie here. After thinking about what I wanted to focus on for this month’s POV, I decided to focus on one of the areas I’m constantly working on, time management and maximizing productivity. One of my biggest personality flaws is also one of my biggest strengths, I want to do everything. So, I end up saying yes to too many projects and end up in a constant state of busyness. Being highly motivated helps me gain experience and grow quickly, but it also leaves me frazzled and exhausted by the end of the week.
To work on time management and maximizing productivity, I’ve discovered setting a clear schedule for my day and week works really well. Below I’ve included my number one tip for creating an effective daily routine.
Wake Up Early
My number one tip to maximize productivity is to wake up earlier. Now, I don’t like waking up early anymore than the next person, but I found myself needing more hours in the day to accomplish everything I wanted to do.
One of the ways to get more hours? Wake up earlier.
On a typical weekday, I wake up at 5:15 AM. I wake up, put my gym clothes on, and head straight to the gym for an hour. This makes sure I’m getting daily exercise, and it also means that by 6:30 AM, I’ve already worked out and can cross that off my to-do list. Giving myself a few extra hours in the morning to prepare for the day has helped immensely. I’m able to check my emails before work (enabling me to be more productive at work and don’t come in to the office already feeling behind), I’m able to cook myself a healthy breakfast each day (eggs and toast), and I can take my time getting ready for the day (no need to start the day stressed and running late.)
That’s it! Wake up early. It’s a simple tip that’s helped me improve my productivity and time management skills. I hope it helps you too!
